Mountain Life Wood Work

Welcome to Mountain Life Woodwork — where Vermont mountains, good humor, and handcrafted tradition meet.

Hi, I’m Chris Walker, the hands (and occasional sawdust-covered face) behind every spoon, scoop, scraper, candlestick, and pasta fork that leaves my shop. What started as a love of working with my hands has grown into a small Vermont woodshop dedicated to making art you can use—pieces meant to be held, enjoyed, and passed around the table.

Each item is carved with care, finished with beeswax, and made to bring a little joy and simplicity back into daily life. Whether you’re stirring a pot, lighting a candle, or just admiring the grain of a beautiful piece of wood, my goal is to make something that feels honest, enduring, and uniquely yours.

Thanks for stopping by—and welcome to the Mountain Life.

About

Mountain Life Wood Work

Mountain Life Woodwork started in 2020 with one unforgettable creation: a spectacularly sad bowl I carved on my porch on Mt. Mansfield. It was misshapen, confused about its purpose, and frankly a little embarrassed to be wood—but it lit the spark. That first “learning experience” showed me how much joy there is in taking a raw piece of Vermont hardwood and turning it into something useful, beautiful, and meant to last.

From that humble beginning, this little venture has grown into a one-person woodshop crafting art you can use every day. I carve spoons, scoops, scrapers, and pasta forks by hand, and I turn every candlestick on a lathe—where, thankfully, things come out perfectly round on purpose.

Each piece is shaped with care, finished with beeswax, and made to feel good in your hands, whether you’re stirring a pot or setting the table for a cozy night in.

I’m Chris Walker—the carver, turner, maker, and occasional creator of unintentionally funny first drafts. Thanks for following along on this journey. Amazing what can grow from a sad little bowl and a porch on a mountain.
